Natural history
Slættaratindur rises from Eysturoy's basalt plateau — on clear days you can see the entire archipelago. Gjógv's gorge was carved by wave erosion into the cliff face. Seabirds nest on the surrounding sea stacks.

Gjógv has a harbour café serving fish soup with views into the gorge. Eysturoy villages smoke their own fish. Tórshavn restaurants on arrival day offer the widest menu choice.

On a clear day from Slættaratindur you can see all eighteen Faroe Islands — the only summit in the archipelago with that claim.
