Natural history
The highlands plateau drops sharply to the Gulf of St Lawrence, creating dramatic cliff trails. Moose were introduced in the 1940s and thrive in the park. Minke and pilot whales feed offshore; bald eagles nest along the coastal forests.

Chéticamp and Baddeck serve lobster rolls, seafood chowder, and Acadian rappie pie. Glenora Distillery makes single-malt whisky beside the trail. Farm markets sell blueberries and oatcakes between hikes.
Fun fact
The Cabot Trail is named for explorer John Cabot, though he likely landed elsewhere — the 300-km loop still ranks among the world's most scenic coastal drives.
